Stand up for Labour - Sutton and Cheam
Stand up for Labour holds a General Election show for Sutton and Cheam Labour Party.
Taking place at Harold Wilson Hall (111c Stayton Road, Sutton SM1 2PS), the night features:
Suzy Bennett is a former Butlin's Red Coat who hit the headlines in 2006 when she won the 'Funny Women' award. She subsequently went on to appear on several TV shows and is now a regular headliner at the UK's leading comedy clubs. She has taken the roof off at Stand up for Labour shows in Weston super mare and Plymouth.
Don Biswas was the stand-out act at Stand up for Labour's show during the Labour Party Conference in Brighton. He is a prolific joke writer and his last two shows at the Edinburgh Festival received rave reviews. Unique in his outlook, Don has some of the best jokes about politics on the comedy circuit. He has also appeared in Stand up for Labour shows in Maidstone and Basildon.
The Artist Taxi Driver is one of the country's most engaging and prolific video bloggers. His talks to camera in the front of his car have been seen by millions and he was the inspiration behind the Grime single 'Get Shut Down' about Theresa May's Magic Money Tree. He was a speaker at Jeremy Corbyn's first fundraiser in 2015 at The Seven Dials Club and has gone on to speak at Stand up for Labour shows in Brighton, Blackpool, Manchester, Sevenoaks and Chingford (Iain Duncan Smith's constituency).
Arthur Smith is one of comedy’s elder statesmen: an Edinburgh Fringe stalwart and performer since the early days of the alternative scene. His distinctive voice is regularly heard on Radio 4 and he has made regular appearances on TV in such shows as ‘QI’, ‘Have I Got News for You’, ‘The One Show’, ‘Countdown’, ‘Loose Women’, ‘Room 101, ‘Grumpy Old Men’. His acting credits include ‘Red Dwarf’, ‘Filthy Rich and Catflap’ and ‘Are you Being Served?’. He also co-wrote the play ‘An Evening with Gary Lineker’. Arthur appeared at Stand up for Labour’s first show in 2012 and has since performed all over the country in support of the Labour Party.
The night is hosted by Crispin Flintoff, who set up Stand up for Labour in 2012 and has organised over 250 shows all over the country. He also set up Jeremy Corbyn's first fundraiser, was central to the #JC4PM tour, the Corbyn Christmas single and Curry for Corbyn!
