Stand up for Labour - Blackpool, Friday 2nd November, 7:30pm (earlybird)
A top night out featuring stand-up comedy and magic with guest speaker John McDonnell MP
Stand up for Labour holds an event for Blackpool North & Cleveleys at The Imperial Hotel (North Promenade, Blackpool FY1 2HB) featuring three fantastic acts and a guest speaker.
Sponsored by the BFAWU and taking place during the North West Regional Conference, this will be a great night out for delegates, local Labour supporters and trade union members.
Opening act Smug Roberts is a man of many talents who not only wrote a hit single ‘Meat Pie, Sausage Roll (Come on England Gi’s a Goal)’, but headlined the opening night of the Comedy Store in Manchester and has appeared in almost every television production by Peter Kay.
Theresa May Cabaret is a relatively new act on the circuit, who has gone down a storm at Stand up for Labour shows in Bournemouth, Manchester, Ipswich and Theresa May's own constituency, Maidenhead.
Headline act Ian Saville is the only Socialist Magician in the Magic Circle. Ian has been performing political fundraisers for over 30 years and combines magic with comedy and ventriloquism. Expect the unexpected!
Guest speaker on the night is John McDonnell, the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer.
The night is compered by Crispin Flintoff, who set up Stand up for Labour in 2012 and has now organised over 200 gigs for Labour Party groups all over England, Scotland and Wales. Crispin was formerly a runner-up in the prestigious Hackney Empire New Acts competition and went on to feature in Paramount Comedy Channel's 'The World Stands Up'.
The night also features liquid prizes and a raffle.
Tickets cost £10 if bought before 2 October/£12 in advance/£15 on the door.
