Stand up for Labour - Banbury, Wednesday 10th October, 7:30pm
A fantastic line up headlined by Arthur Smith
Stand up for Labour returns to the Cornhill Centre (Castle Street, Banbury, OX16 5HT), for a fantastic morale-boosting fundraiser headlined by 'Grumpy Old Man' Arthur Smith and featuring top comedy and spoken word performers.
Arthur Smith is one of comedy’s elder statesmen: an Edinburgh Fringe stalwart and performer since the early days of the alternative scene. His distinctive voice is regularly heard on Radio 4 and he has made regular appearances on TV in such shows as ‘QI’, ‘Have I Got News for You’, ‘The One Show’, ‘Countdown’, ‘Loose Women’, ‘Room 101, ‘Grumpy Old Men’. His acting credits include ‘Red Dwarf’, ‘Filthy Rich and Catflap’ and ‘Are you Being Served?’. He also co-wrote the play ‘An Evening with Gary Lineker’.
Arthur appeared at Stand up for Labour’s first show in 2012 and has since performed all over the country in support of the Labour Party.
Gráinne Maguire is not only a talented stand-up comedian who is always writing new topical jokes, but she is also a political commentator - as seen on shows like ‘Question Time’ and ‘Daily Politics’.
Jeff Robert has been a jobbing actor for over 30 years and featured in several premier performances of Alan Ayckbourn plays. Jeff will be performing a mix of sketches and spoken word.
Owen Collins is a Witney-based wordsmith who believes in socialism, love at first sight, and not having to pay to use the toilet in major railway termini.
The evening is hosted by Crispin Flintoff, who set up Stand up for Labour in 2012 to raise money and morale in the party and has now organised over 250 shows all over England, Scotland and Wales.
There will also be liquid prizes and a raffle plus plenty of time to catch up with comrades.
The night is sponsored by GMB B10 Banbury No1 and Unite SE5250 BMW Workplace Branch.
