Stand up for Labour - Maidenhead, Sunday 4 February (7:30pm)
A fantastic line up including top comedians and a burlesque Theresa May!
Stand up for Labour holds an event in Theresa May's constituency at Maidenhead Rugby Union Football Club with an hilarious line up of comedy and burlesque.
As well as liquid prizes and the obligatory Labour Party raffle, the night features:
Gráinne Maguire, who provides an intelligent but also sometimes geeky outlook on political life. Her act has gone down a storm at Stand up for Labour events in England, Scotland and Wales and Gráinne has also featured on 'Question Time', 'Daily Politics' and many other TV shows.
Sir Ian Bowler MP is a loathsome panto villain with some of the funniest one-liners about political life. The creator of Sir Ian Bowler, Nat Tapley, has written jokes for Have I Got News for You and other topical news programmes and he is also a rather good poet. His act has been surprisingly well received by Labour audiences all over the country.
Theresa May Cabaret is a burlesque act performed by Lolly Jones. She is making her Stand up for Labour debut in the hometown of her inspiration.
Norman Lovett is a comedy legend who started performing during the Punk era (he warmed up for 'The Clash'). His own unique style has influenced countless other comedians and has led him to many TV appearances (notably on 'Red Dwarf'). He is the Stand up for Labour Act of the Year, winning a vote of CLPs across the country.
The night is hosted by Crispin Flintoff, who set up Stand up for Labour in 2012 as he believed that political events were not inspiring or entertaining enough. He has now organised over 200 shows in England, Scotland and Wales and, in doing so, has inspired more people to get involved in politics and has raised money for the Labour Party as well.
Guest speakers are to be announced.
The raffle will be raising money for the Windsor Homeless Project.
Tickets cost £10 if bought in advance and cost £15 on the door.
