Stand up for Labour - Maidstone
Stand up for Labour brings a top line up of comedians for a fundraiser for Maidstone and The Weald Labour Party, taking place at Grange Moor Hotel (4-8 St Michael's Rd, Maidstone ME16 8BS).
Gráinne Maguire possesses an intelligent but also sometimes geeky outlook on political affairs. Her act has gone down a storm at Stand up for Labour events in England, Scotland and Wales and Gráinne has also featured on 'Question Time', 'Daily Politics' and many other TV shows.
Jonny Pelham made his comedy debut in 2012 and was runner-up in the prestigious So You Think You're Funny? and Chortle Student Comedian of the Year competitions. He has since become a highly sought after comedian and made a TV appearance on Russell Howard's latest show. He has gone down a storm at Stand up for Labour shows in Staffordshire and Bristol.
Norman Lovett is one of the most influential comedians in the country, who has developed his own style of comedy since the 1970s. He once warmed up for Punk band ‘The Clash’ and is well known for appearing as ‘Holly’ in cult TV sitcom ‘Red Dwarf’.
The night is hosted by Crispin Flintoff, who set up Stand up for Labour in 2012 as he believed that political events were not inspiring or entertaining enough. He has now organised over 200 shows in England, Scotland and Wales and, in doing so, has inspired more people to get involved in politics as well as raising money for the Labour Party.
The night also features liquid prizes and a raffle.
Tickets cost £12 if bought in advance/£15 on the door.
